Zero Waste Mascara (VIDEO)
I can count on one hand the amount of times I used make up in the year before going Zero Waste. Never been big on foundations and eye shadows, but I like a bit of mascara and eye liner every now and then.
I use an old school eyeliner, which fits perfectly with the zero waste life style. After sharpening my pencil, I can place the shavings in my compost.
As for the mascara, I looked up a few homemade eyeliner recipes for some inspiration.
My recipe is in no way mastered, but here's how to make zero waste mascara.
You will need:
Empty Mascara Tube
Activated Charcoal
Bentonite Clay
Flaxseed Gel
Coconut Oil
Castor Oil
Measuring tools
Utensils
Add a 1/2 teaspoon of activated charcoal to a clean bowl.
Add 1/8 teaspoon of bentonite clay to the bowl.
Add a tablespoon of slightly melted coconut oil to the bowl and stir. (It should be a creamy substance)
Add flax gel and castor oil to the bowl and mix again.
Immediately transfer to the mascara tube with a funnel while to contents are still warm and runny.
Let it sit and cool before using.
