Run This Town: Mompiche
Alas, I've found my favorite beach in Ecuador! Supa and I explore a new beach each Sunday. I like to think of it as a weekly baptism, you know, submerging in water like kinfolk do.
We traveled to Mompiche for a weekend rendezvous and found paradise. Everything you can think of on a perfect beach is in Mompiche. Tranquil waters and waves, non-intrusive sand, scenic hill backdrops and a community...
Run This Town: Quito
Supa set me up to hate Quito. She'd been to Ecuador once before and had nothing but bummer things to say about the country's capitol. Dull, rainy and oversaturated by Euro wannabes (cue in my M. Maroney not-impressed-face).
We arrived on a Thursday night with enough time to check in shower and hit the sheets. Taking a seven-hour ride from Tonsupa through the winding Andes Mountains is enough to...
Suicide Rocks: Life on the Edge
IDK Why I play with life as if I have nine lives to live!
I revisited the rock from at Sua beach, remember? To Supa and my surprise, the rock was completely exposed, and boy am I happy we didn't try to swim over there in water. I'd probably be on the news somewhere. (note: Where Supa is sitting was under water last week)
The tides are something else aren't they? I'd like to to do a post solely about...
Set Sail (For NaNa)
The weeks have been much up and down weather-wise. From very sunny and scorching hot, to cool and gloomy. It's a toss up I tell ya!
Well, not even a week into being in Ecuador, my NaNa (paternal great-grandmother) passed. I was a bit burdened by the news the first night, but after clarity was happy for the new adventures her sweet-soul will encounter.
On the Isla de los Pajaros there's a bizarre set...
Run This Town: Playa De Sua
Sua is officially the beach of adventure, for me at least.
I fell in love with it quickly because the beach is calm compared to others in Esmeraldas. I don't like anything over saturated, that's why I like finding the hidden gems of life (it drives my king crazy).
Sua is about a 15-minute bus ride from Atacames. The beach has a short shore, and there's a few steps between the last wave and concrete...
